A. The safety and welfare of our dancers is paramount and at Motion Arts Dance Academy we take our ‘duty of care’ very seriously. The Principal Miss Lauren has undergone the most recent Child Protection and Safeguarding training and is fully trained to Level 2 standard. In conjunction with Government legislation and Merton Council, Motion Arts Dance Academy has a safeguarding and child protection policy which all staff adhere to. All staff and volunteers have good knowledge and understanding of the local and national guidelines, and they hold an up to date Enhanced DBS certificate.
B. Under no circumstances will Motion Arts allow dancers to enter the surrounding area of our venue without supervision. We therefore, request that parents/carers always enter the venue to drop off and collect their child. After class, dancers will remain safely inside the venue with Miss Lauren until their parent/carer collects them. Please inform a member of Motion Arts staff if you have organised for a relative or friend to drop off or collect your child. It would be appreciated by Motion Arts staff, if parents/carers who are running late, contact Miss Lauren in order for us to reassure your child. After 15 minutes of waiting time Motion Arts will always try to contact parents/carers to remind them of the collection time. It is with our regret, that late collections over 15 minutes will incur a further cost of £6.50 per quarter of an hour. It is hoped that this charge will not be necessary and that parents/carers support Motion Arts and collect their children on time.
C. Motion Arts Dance Academy has a fully qualified first aider on site at all times.
D. Motion Arts Dance Academy holds an up-to-date public liability certificate.
E. The teachers and assistants of Motion Arts Dance Academy are fully qualified, trained and experienced in their fields and have the most current up to date knowledge of ‘good practices’. As a registered school Motion Arts is required to follow the RAD Code of Professional Conduct. This is available from Miss Lauren.
F. Dance by its very nature is a physical art and at times there will be some contact between the teacher/assistant and the pupil in a safe and supportive manner.
G. Motion Arts understands it is a joy to watch your child learn to dance, and parents/carers are invited to attend Open Ballet Day once a term. This is an opportunity at the end of each term to watch your dancer perform all of the work they have been studying. From experience, Motion Arts has seen that dancers are much more focussed and therefore develop more quickly when other adults are not present. We therefore request parents/carers to wait in the foyer or take advantage of the local coffee shops/shopping area located on the High Street at all other times.
H. During the free trial class, dancers are welcome to wear loose comfortable clothing. At all other times, correct dance attire is required and for female dancers a ballet bun is required for all classes. Parents/Carers are welcome to observe the first class only, if the dancer is unsettled.
I. Class Fees are calculated for a term (which runs for 10-14 weeks alongside the school term). Fees are payable prior to on or the second week of term. Fees for Uniform and Exams are calculated separately. Please see the Fee Policy for more information.
J. Motion Arts Dance Academy will seek permission from parents/carers before taking photographs/video footage of dancers. Whilst seeking consent, Motion Arts will clearly outline the purpose, storage, handling and use of images/footage. No child will appear in images/footage without the permission of their parent/carer. Please see our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and GDPR Privacy Notice for more information.
K. Motion Arts Dance Academy accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen items. Please write your child’s name on the inside label of uniform and equipment. However, found items will be placed in Lost Property for the duration of a term. This is located inside the main hall at each venue.
